"Taylor Swift" has bought a $4.9 million house next door to her boyfriend’s famed Kennedy family compound on Cape Cod.

Country songbird Taylor Swift has bought a $4.9 million house next door to her boyfriend’s famed Kennedy family compound on Cape Cod.
The 22-year-old “You Belong With Me” singer is so smitten with Conor Kennedy, 18, that she plunked down a fortune — in cash — to be closer to his Camelot clan’s Hyannis Port, Mass., spread.

Swift’s 4,400-square-foot house is a football toss away from President John F. Kennedy’s “Summer White House” and nearly a spitting distance from the summer home of Conor’s grandmother Ethel Kennedy.

The Nashville darling and her Kennedy boy toy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have been dating for several months, and she helped console him when his mother, Mary, committed suicide in May.

“Taylor has been a real shoulder to cry on,” a source told Us Weekly this month.
Swift was spotted at the Kennedy compound over the July 4 weekend, but she apparently preferred to have her own place close by.
Swift took Conor to Nashville this month to introduce him to her parents, Scott and Andrea.

Swift, who also owns homes in Nashville and Beverly Hills, closed on the seven-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Cape Cod pad last week, according to People magazine.
The house with the famous neighbors had been on the market since 2010, when it was listed for $13.5 million. The price had been reduced several times before Swift gobbled it up.
Swift has dated a string of high-profile leading men, including Joe Jonas, 22; Jake Gyllenhaal, 31; John Mayer, 34, and Taylor Lautner, 20.

"Texas A&m" Three Killed

Just after noon Monday, Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann embarked on a seemingly routine chore — serving an eviction notice in a pleasant neighborhood a few blocks from Texas A&M University.

But a man at the house on Fidelity Street opened fire, killing Bachmann, 41. That triggered a 30-minute shootout with police that left the gunman and a bystander dead in an outbreak of violence that shocked this serene college town.

Police killed the gunman, but not before he shot and killed a 43-year-old man and wounded a 55-year-old woman. An officer who responded to a 911 call about the constable was wounded in the leg.

During confused and chaotic early reports, fears arose that College Station would join Aurora, Colo., and Oak Creek, Wis., in the latest spasm of shooting rampages by lone gunmen. Texas A&M issued a "code maroon" warning on its website, stating that an "active shooter" was in the area.

"It's pretty surreal to happen in a small town like this," Nicole McMurrer, 20, a Texas A&M junior, said a few hours later, peering over yellow police tape near her home a few blocks from the shooting scene.

Police identified the gunman as Thomas Caffall, 35, and said they knew of no motive. Caffall appeared to have no serious criminal record. According to court records, in 2006 he pleaded no contest to driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.

A man listed as Thomas Caffall on Facebook wrote that he was from Bryan, Texas, and lived in adjacent College Station. The profile photo appears to be the man shown in Caffall's driver's license photo, which police released.

Caffall's wall photos include snapshots of guns.

"Just picked it up today, can't wait to try it out on the range," he posted on June 7, 2011, referring to a gun.

Next to a photo of a gun labeled "gunbroker.com Geranimo," he posted on May 24, 2011: "I won an auction. This will be coming to me soon. I can't wait to try it out."

In a May 13, 2011, post, Caffall wrote: "I just got a new toy! It's a Russian Mosin Nagant ... I'll be at the gun range as much as I can."

Caffall described himself as a divorced Christian. "I am pulling a cross between Forrest Gump and Jack Kerouac (without the drugs). I'm on the road, permanently," he posted.

According to his Facebook page, Caffall's mother attended high school in Bryan, and his brother graduated from nearby Navasota High School. His sister is listed as a College Station resident.

The sister, reached by phone late Monday, said the family was reeling.

"We're just shocked," said Courtney Graham Clark of College Station. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who were affected by this senseless tragedy."

Caffall's Facebook page includes quotes from Emily Dickinson, George Orwell and Winston Churchill.

In his profile picture, he hugs a gray and black dog named Lucy.

George Clemenceau, 20, a classmate of McMurrer who was visiting her during the shootout, said he could hear whizzing as bullets passed by.

He saw a man lying flat on the ground who appeared to have been shot in the back.

Honey Boo Boo Child

If you saw Alana Thompson, better known to the world as Honey Boo Boo Child, on TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras" in January, you had to know it was only a matter of time before a kid that energetic and expressive landed a show of her very own.

TLC is set to debut her new show, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," Wednesday on the network, following the 6-year-old pageant contestant and her family as they go about their everyday lives in rural Georgia.

The Thompson clan includes dad Sugar Bear, a chalk-miner; sisters Lauryn ("Pumpkin"), Jessica ("Chubbs"), and Anna ("Chickadee"); and mom June, whom viewers of "Toddlers & Tiaras" will remember.
June told CNN in an interview that the idea for the show was born after Alana's appearance on TLC's reality series about young pageant contestants.
"America kind of wanted to know what our life was like outside of the pageant world, and this show will portray [that]," June said.
"We do a lot of mud bogging, four-wheel riding, going to community events," she said of the family's lifestyle. Viewers will still see the preparation for pageants, but it's mainly focused on the Thompson family "and the crazy things we do to pass the time by," June said. "I think America will get the gist of who we actually are."
June and her daughter haven't received positive feedback from all viewers, but the stay-at-home mom said that she has no regrets about signing on for the show.
"People are going to talk, good and bad, and it is what it is," she said. "My family, we enjoy what we've done and I would do it again."
At the very least, it does sound like those tuned in will be entertained.
"My family is crazy and - like, crazy. We're not boring," June said. "People have opinions, but if people actually sit down and talk with me and my family or talk with Alana, you'll see that Alana thoroughly enjoys doing what she does, and that we're not ignorant people like everybody says."
As far as how much longer June sees her family being in the spotlight, that decision's  up to Alana.
"We may do it for the next six months, we may end it next month," June told us. "When [Alana] doesn't want to do TV or pageants, then we quit everything and go back to our normal lives. We live a very normal life outside of the cameras and outside of the pageant world."
See for yourself when "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" airs at 10 p.m. ET tonight on TLC.

Allyson Felix wins gold in 200 meters

Allyson Felix won the women's 200 meters at the London Games in 21.88 seconds, adding a gold medal to her previous two Olympic silver medals and highlighting a medal haul for the United States in track and field Wednesday night.
In four events at the Olympic Stadium, the United States came away with three gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes. Brittney Reese won the long jump and Aries Merritt won the 110-meter hurdles.
At the U.S. Olympic trials, Felix, 26, had run 21.69, history's fourth-fastest performance, to become the favorite in London. She finished fifth in the 100 meters Saturday, an event she used to help her prepare for the speed and endurance required in the 200.
It paid off Wednesday, as Felix crossed the finish line with a smile of relief on her face after settling for silver in the 200 meters in 2004 and 2008.
"I mean, finally," she said after the race. "It's been a long time coming. I am so overjoyed."
Running in Lane 7, she could not see any of her main challengers until she exited the curve, except for her countrywoman, Carmelita Jeter, who was outside in Lane 9. Jeter, who took silver in the 100, won bronze in the 200 in 22.14.
But it hardly mattered that Felix had a limited view of her opponents. She surged coming out of the curve to pass the two-time defending Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica.
Felix held her elegant form nicely and pulled away in the homestretch, becoming the only sprinter to finish under 22 seconds. Campbell-Brown faded to fourth, while her fellow Jamaican, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, took silver in 22.09.
Women's long jump: Brittney Reese won the long jump, becoming only the second U.S. woman to win the event at the Olympics.
The two-time world champion went into the competition with the best jump of the season and put down the best mark in the final with 23 feet, 4 1/2 inches on her second attempt. She is the first U.S. woman to win the Olympic long jump since Jackie Joyner-Kersee in 1988. Russia's Elena Sokolova took the silver medal at 23-2 1/2 and Janay Deloach earned the bronze for the United States at 22-7 1/4.
"It's a surreal moment," Reese said. "I got very emotional - you do when you're representing your country."
Men's 110-meter hurdles: Aries Merritt led a 1-2 finish for the United States, winning in 12.92 seconds. Defending champion Dayron Robles of Cuba pulled up midway through and clutched his right hamstring.
Jason Richardson, the world champion, was second in 13.04. Hansle Parchment of Jamaica took the bronze in 13.12.
"I've worked so hard for this moment, and who knows if I'll ever get this chance again?" Merritt said.
Women's 400-meter hurdles: Natalya Antyukh of Russia won the women's 400-meter hurdles, edging world champion Lashinda Demus and narrowly missing the Olympic record.
Antyukh, a bronze medalist in the 400 at the 2004 Olympics, won in 52.70 seconds, just 0.06 outside the Olympic record set by Melaine Walker in Beijing.
Demus took silver in 52.77 and Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic got the bronze medal in 53.38.
Other events: Americans Ashton Eaton (3,698 points) and Trey Hardee (3,537 points) are atop the standings in the men's decathlon after five events. The competition wraps up Thursday. ... San Francisco native Shannon Rowbury qualified for Friday's 1,500-meter final with a time of 4:05.47 - the slowest qualifying time. ... Cal alum Alysia Johnson MontaƱo had the fastest time (2:00.47) in Round 1 qualifying in the 800 meters. The semifinals are Thursday.

Randy Travis arrested naked, charged with DWI

Randy Travis was charged with driving while intoxicated and threatening law officers after the country singer crashed his car and was found naked and combative at the scene, officials said.

A mug shot released by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office shows a battered-looking Travis in a gray T-shirt, with a black eye and dried blood on his face. He later walked out of the county jail wearing scrubs, a University of Texas ball cap and no shoes.
It was the second Texas arrest this year for Travis, who was cited in February for public intoxication.
The sheriff’s office in Grayson County, located in far North Texas along the border with Oklahoma, received a 911 call at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday about a man seen lying in a road west of Tioga, where the entertainer lives.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responding to the scene said a Pontiac Trans Am registered to Travis, 53, had been driven off the road and struck several barricades in a construction road.
Travis was not wearing clothes at the time of his arrest and made threats against the Texas troopers, said Tom Vinger, a DPS spokesman. He said the singer refused sobriety tests, so a blood specimen was taken.
Travis was released on $21,500 bond Wednesday morning from the jail in Sherman, about 60 miles north of Dallas. Blood test results are pending.
Grayson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Rickey Wheeler said Travis faces charges of retaliation or obstruction in addition to driving under the influence.
“Travis had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. “While Travis was being transported, Travis made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case.”
In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, about 20 miles from Tioga.
He also has been involved in messy court proceedings with his ex-wife. Travis was divorced from Elizabeth Travis in 2010 after 19 years of marriage.
Earlier this year, Elizabeth Travis, who had been his manager for more than three decades, filed a lawsuit claiming that Randy Travis made it impossible for her to do her job and terminated her management contract without proper notice. She said her ex-husband sent several men, including an armed guard, to clean out her offices.

Earthquake, aftershocks jolt Southern California

A temblor with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 that struck two miles from Yorba Linda, Calif., Tuesday night was followed by what appeared to be several aftershocks, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The first earthquake struck 5.1 miles below the surface at about 11:23 p.m., according to USGS.
At 11:25 p.m., a quake estimated at magnitude 2.7 struck in the same area, centered two miles from Yorba Linda. The third temblor -- a magnitude 1.2 -- struck at about 11:41 p.m. and was centered one mile from Yorba Linda.

Five more quakes followed in the next 50 minutes, USGS reports. All of them were within two miles of Yorba Linda and ranged from magnitude 1.4 to 2.1.
The initial quake's epicenter was located five miles from Placentia; 6 miles from Chino Hills and 8 miles from Orange. The LA Civic Center was 29 miles away from the quakes epicenter.
There were no injuries or damage immediately reported following the quake, but all fire resources were placed in "Emergency Earthquake Mode," Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an email statement Tuesday night.
Firefighters from all 106 neighborhood stations on Tuesday night were surveying 470 square miles in the Greater Los Angeles area, Spence said, inspecting residential buildings, schools, powerlines and transportation infrastructures.
By 12:15 a.m., the Emergency Earthquake Mode was lifted and fire officials said they did not find any signficant damage or reports of injuries.
Within minutes, hundreds of NBCLosAngeles.com Twitter followers and Facebook fans reported feeling the shallow quake.
"Strong jolts in Whittier. Not looking forward to any after shocks," YeaMe Ceazon wrote on the NBCLA Facebook page.
The shallow quake was felt from the Inland Empire to the coast. Residents in Fontana, Anaheim, Torrance, Hollywood, Long Beach and Burbank also reported feeling the quake.
"I suddenly heard a loud thud coming from what sounded like the roof on my garage and then the whole garage started shaking and creaking," said Jose, in Burbank.
"I started to feel my bed shake and I was like, not again, and then I heard it pop, like a popping sound. And it just kept shaking, shaking, shaking and soon as I got up to get dressed it stopped," said Daphne, in Bellflower.
"I was lying on my livingroom floor of my mobile home in Hermosa Beach, watching the Olympics, when I felt some distinct shaking, light shaking, but it felt like a steady 10-second or so shaking," Karen told NBCLosAngeles.com in an email.
