Emmy nominations 2012

Julianna Margulies received a nomination for her role on "The Good Wife," but the CBS drama was shut out of the Outstanding Drama Series category.

Nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday morning, and while many TV fans were able to celebrate their favorite stars and shows, others are bemoaning the omission of theirs.

Here's a look at who was left out:

• Julianna Margulies received a nomination for her role on "The Good Wife," but the CBS drama was shut out of the Outstanding Drama Series category.
• Hugh Laurie was not nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the final year of "House."
• Three seasons of "Community" and still no Emmy nominations for the fan-favorite comedy or its ensemble cast.
• Zombies might be popular with fans, but apparently not with Emmy voters. "The Walking Dead" didn't receive a nod for Outstanding Drama Series, and none of the cast received nominations.
• "Glee" seems to have fallen out of favor with Emmy voters as well - its only nomination was in the guest-acting category.
• "Parks and Recreation" didn't receive a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. Others are also crying foul on Nick Offerman's omission from the Emmys list (he was supposed to read the nominations Thursday morning, but was sidelined by travel-related delays. Jimmy Kimmel filled in).

  "Boardwalk Empire" (HBO)

   
• Louis C.K.'s series "Louis" was also not part of the Outstanding Comedy Series list.
• No nods for "Cougar Town" or star Courteney Cox (who has still never earned an Emmy nomination).
• Timothy Olyphant of "Justified" was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category last year, but the honor eluded him this year.
• Kelsey Grammer won a Golden Globe in January for his role on "Boss," but the actor was shut out of this year's Emmy ballot.
• No "Luck" for Dustin Hoffman, either - the actor was passed over in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.
• While Claire Danes and Damian Lewis got acting nods for "Homeland," co-star Mandy Patinkin did not.
• For the first time since the category was created, "Survivor" host Jeff Probst is not nominated for Outstanding Reality Show Host.
• Another reality show snub: "American Idol" wasn't nominated for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. ("The Voice," it's worth noting, did get a nod.)
• "The Killing" didn't receive a single nomination.
• No love for "Sons of Anarchy" or its cast this year.
• "Mad Men" leads this year's nominees with 17 nominations, but honors for John Slattery and newcomer Jessica Pare aren't on that list.
